Issuance of Attorney Identification Cards Temporarily Suspended Beginning Monday, April 13th

Friday, April 10, 2020

Ordinarily, members of the bar of the Northern District of Georgia may apply for an attorney photo ID card (also known as the “blue card”) that allows them to bring certain equipment into the federal courthouses of the Northern District of Georgia without a court order. For security reasons, the application process must take place in person, which is inconsistent with social distancing guidelines recommended by federal and state authorities to curb the spread of COVID-19. At the same time, issuance of attorney identification cards is not an essential function of the court. Therefore, issuance of attorney identification cards is temporarily suspended effective April 13, 2020 until further notice.
